SHORT NEWS
The big news today is that Eury Perez is headed for Tommy John surgery. Until that news I had Perez down for 130 innings, coming back in May, which was too optimistic by a lot. Perez’s price dropped from $26 in CBS, to $19 in LABR, to $7 in Tout Wars. Now the question is how much value he’ll have next year. Relievers seem to be able to come back in a year, but starters often take longer. They often struggle with control and command for a while. Perez may not be a factor until 2026, though some good starts in the second half of next year would build up his price for the next year.
That’s the Norfolk Tides hitting box score from last night’s game against Charlotte. Kurt Stowers hit seven homers during spring training before he was sent down. I read somewhere that no professional baseball game ever before ended 27-11.
I released Jacob Young Sunday night in my 15-team mixed league because he didn’t make the Nationals, despite him being one of my sleepers for this year. He was called up yesterday when Victor Robles hit the IL with a hamstring strain. Young will play the weak side of a platoon with Eddie Rosario, who I picked up on waivers to replace Young.
BEAST OF BURDI, THE SONG
I meant to post this yesterday, when it was sort of appropriate. Today it’s just fun.
