A NEW UPDATE
The Rotoman Sheet has been updated with lots of little pricing and playing time tweaks. Nothing worth a special mention since yesterday, but now, for instance, Mauricio Dubon has a projection.
What the Sheet doesn’t have is a statline for Justin Dirden. He may make the Astros with Michael Brantley going on the IL to start the season. Dirden isn’t anyone’s idea of a prospect, he’ll be 26 in July and has only a little more than 100 plate appearances in Triple-A so far, but he did hit 24 homers and steal 11 bases combined between Double and Triple-A last year.
I haven’t solved the technical issue updating Rotoman’s Sheet with new players and linking it to my master spreadsheet, so there’s a bit of a lag for Dirden. My apologies but I’ll try to keep you up on these as they come up.
The big news today is that Rhys Hoskins went down during a game today, collapsing in pain. We don’t know yet what the diagnosis is. If he misses much time Darick Hall and/or Scott Kingery could see more playing time.

And, Reisel Iglesias has been shut down with shoulder inflammation. He won’t throw for seven days and they will then reevaluate. If he’s good then he can probably get ready again in two or three weeks, or more rest might be required. While he’s out A.J. Minter seems like the obvious replacement, though they also have the once unhittable Nick Anderson under contract.
ASK ROTOMAN
Hey Rotoman!
Any players you’ve rostered on more than one team this year?
“Tracking Dupes”
Dear Tracking:
I’ve drafted four teams so far, plus the Guide Mock and the one name that sprang immediately to mind was Josiah Gray, because I wrote about that very thing yesterday.
So let me peruse the draftboards and see who else pops out:
I’ve got Will Smith, the Dodger, wherever I can, or William Contreras, or both.
Nico Hoerner, who sat out today’s game to be careful, is on a few of my teams. I was a big fan last year, when he was super cheap, so I’m keeping him when I can, but his price has been fair in startup leagues.
Tommy Pham has been so cheap he has been irresistible. The opportunities to play will be there, I chant, not really sure how.
Tyler O’Neill was a disappointment last year but that has made for a buying opportunity this year.
I have Dylan Floro in a couple of leagues. He could be the closer and he’s super cheap.
JT Brubaker is on a few teams. He’s so cheap and looks so ready to take the next step, it’s too bad his team isn’t so hot.
Michael Conforto hasn’t been supercheap, but he’s been discounted compared to his potential, at least his potential before he got hurt.
I have a mixed auction coming up this weekend in which my three keepers are Jeremy Pena, Nico Hoerner, and Oneil Cruz. I won’t be caught up short there.
And the following weekend is the American Dream League AL only 4x4. I’m sure I’ll some other multiples by the time that’s over.
Sincerely,
