A Cheap Pitching Chart
My Tout Wars NL Team
MONDAY MONDAY
Can’t trust that day.
Friday I promised a chart of cheap pitchers derived from the Expert Leagues would be appearing Monday, but I was dragged kicking into a non-baseball related gig and missed our deadline. I’m sorry about that.
They call it stormy Monday, but Tuesday’s just as bad.
Today, one thing after another. Too much time spent trying to log into the New York state Tax department website. Do I have a bone to pick with them? Yes, I do.
I have many accounts with NYS. The DMV, State of Health, Department of Labor, Individual Tax, Business Tax. I think I’m forgetting one. When they set them up originally they all had different login/password combos. And cookies that can’t tell the difference.
So, when I try to log into individual tax, I end up in business tax. Or the DMV! My health insurance card is a vanity plate that reads SALUD2U.
It doesn’t fit in my wallet.
Interestingly, they’re trying to shift people to a NYS ID under which you can access all your accounts. I tried to sign up today. I did sign up today. The process wasn’t hard except that I’d used up all my usernames in my other accounts, so I had to go original. I filled in all the pages and answered the very lame security questions, which the NYS IT people should be ashamed to be using, pressed the MAKE ME AN IDENTITY button and was passed to a page that said: We can’t do that now. Please try again later.
Anyway, I collected the CBS, LABR, and Tout Wars prices for the AL and NL drafts and compiled them.
This chart shows all the pitchers taken for $5 or less in all three drafts.
There’s a link to a spreadsheet that has all the pitchers selected for between $5 and $1 in at least one league in a link after the paywall, which Subscribers can get to.
I think you can use this chart to identify your endgame targets, both in starters who much isn’t expected of but who are worth taking a chance on, and relievers who should not hurt you. And might help.
But note that some pitchers didn’t make the 3 list because he was bought for more in one league, like Joey Cantillo, who was $4 in CBS and Tout but went for $7 in LABR. That Cantillo price is a reflection of how LABR played it. While CBS and Tout were aggressive early, LABR didn’t spend much early and so has higher prices in the second half of the draft.
Other players weren’t taken in all three between $5 and $1 because they weren’t taken in one league or other at all. Or on reserve.
The point is, don’t draw conclusions about players who didn’t make the 3 list, but use these lists as jumping off points for your late-round cheap targets. The reasons for liking Cantillo are obvious, stuff, and the reasons for being reticent are equally obvious, his location is erratic. But that’s him now, and you’ll want to own him when he figures it out.
MY TOUT WARS TEAM
It’s late and I’m going to put this piece about my Sunday auction together for tomorrow.
If you have any questions about anything I’ll cover them then, too, tomorrow.
You can bet your bottom dollar.
BUYING THE GUIDE
If you’d like to buy the PDF version from an online store, rather than through my Stripe link, visit Gumroad!
I’m hoping Gumroad gets me in front of new customers during this peak fantasy baseball time, but I make more money if you buy the PDF through my Stripe link. At both Gumroad and my Stripe page the PDF costs $12.
And, of course, if you buy the so-called annual subscription, which costs $40, I’ll send you the PDF for “free,” and you also get access to the newsletters from December, January, and February, which have a lot of fantasy baseball info in them.
You can also buy the softcover book and Kindle version at Amazon, for $19.11 and $9.99 respectively.
HOUSEKEEPING
On Wednesday we’ll have a bit about my Tout Wars team. Not too much but I hope some helpful observation.
Wednesday is worse.
Thursday is oh-so sad.
If you buy the so-called annual subscription I will at some point notice and email you the PDF of the Guide. Feel free to email me at askrotoman@gmail.com and let me know you signed up for the $40 plan. I’ll send the pdf as soon as I see the email.
If you buy a monthly subscription you can pay for just one month and be a member right up until Opening Day. You get the Master Sheet and access to member only posts and back issues, but not the PDF.
If you see something, say something.
Have a great week. I’m prepping for my 45 year mixed keeper league auction on Saturday. I’ll write about that tomorrow, too.
Sincerely,
The Master Sheet for paid subscribers is after the paywall! Updated through March 12.
The paywall is now.
